Port Mansfield Dredging Project

In 2005, the Navigation District received a Texas parks and Wildlife "boating access" grant which contributed $225,000 to a local effort to rent a dredge and operate it using local workers.

The dredging operation began in 2006 with the construction of a levee to contain the dredged material and dredging began on February 01,2007. The dredge started in the harbor and dredged east 4,000 ft. almost reaching the channel intersection with the Gulf of Mexico Intra Coastal Waterway (GIWW).

Dredging ended on June 16, 2007 after 80-1000,000 cubic yards of material was removed from the Mansfield Channel.
